Avoid losing one user’s update to another

Two buyers may open the same request and save changes seconds apart. Concurrency controls help the BO coordinate access and detect stale updates instead of silently treating the older view as current.

Declare a lock and version marker

The lock master establishes the BO’s lock responsibility; the ETag master identifies a version field used to detect changes. The field must be part of the model and maintained correctly. Draft scenarios can also use a total ETag to detect changes across the draft lifecycle.

Locking and ETags address different parts of concurrency control. Neither replaces business validation or authorization. Select timestamp fields and lock behavior that match the persistence model and service contract, and verify exact requirements for the release.
